Black History Month Closing.....

Today is 2/28 the last day of black history month for the year 2013. #DidYouKnow Black history Month was literally just 1 week ?
There once was a week in February dedicated to Negroes known as "Negro History week". This was a short period to reflect on what you've learned over the past year. A man by the name of Carter G Woodson is the reason we have Black History Month. He figured since Frederick Douglas  and President Lincolns  birthday were both in the month why not dedicate an entire month to the history of Negroes.

"If you start from slavery , everything from that point seems like a accomplishment"-Carter G Woodson

This entire theory of having one particular month set aside to discuss the history of Negroes is a very touchy issue. If February is BLACK HISTORY MONTH, what are all thee other 11 months WHITE HISTORY MONTHS?  That's a reasonably question. It's only right why single out one race and not separate or single out them all. Why can't the history of America be taught and learned through out the year including those that are considered to most not all but most, as BLACK HISTORY.  What makes Black history, BLACK HISTORY? Are the truths of slavery and prejudices of America not the history of the country as a whole?
Why are HBCU's titled as HBCU's? Why aren't they just called Historically College's and Universities? Why is the black thrown in there? Why is BLACK looked at and or defined as sinister or evil, dirty or bad when WHITE is defined as a sign of purity and innocence?
Why is it  that instead of posting positive images and facts about American history during this month, people  opted to repost and support the negative and comical mockery post? Every year it seems that February being labeled BLACK HISTORY MONTH is fading a way slowly but surely. Every year the value of the history and the people is diminishing.  Last year there was the Trayvon Martin shooting, this year it was Christopher Dorner. Its crazy the showings of historical programs were at an all time low this year, not to mention the fact that those that were shown were aired throughout the wee hours of the night. Many are so caught up in the hype that they don't even realize whats going on right in front of their face.

"Lets not forget THE HISTORY, just forget that they exclude it to be only BLACK HISTORY"-Chaos
