NO DRINKS at PAPILLON 25

So every once in a blue I stopped by this nice spot in South Orange to hear some live music and enjoy some good drinks. I have a friend who's band performs there from time to time.  Last night, I found myself at Papillon 25 enjoying great sounds and preparing my self to indulge in my favorite drink, their coconut-tini. My friend and I placed our orders and prepared ourselves for what we thought would be an enjoyable night. As our waiter bought our drinks out he noticed her ID on the table and stated , "Oh you have that out for me?". She smiles and says, "I mean you never asked for it but if you want here".  I'm grooving to the sounds of the live band not paying pretty much any mind to what is  going on,  so he ask me for mine as well. I smiled gave him my id and continue to enjoy the show. In a matter of seconds he replies, "these aren't you ..." as he checks the id's while looking at us as well. He then goes as far as asking me for my college ID which was visible due to my open wallet, I laughed and gave him that as well.  Being 26 and 24 my friend and I laughed as if he was joking; I mean why else would he insist that we weren't ourselves. So we laughed it off and both reached for our drinks, only to have him snatch them from our hands and  take them away. So my friend and I laughed it off as if he was joking or maybe even flirting. I mean, two not so bad looking ladies out for drinks, we assumed he was yanking our chains. But to our surprise he abruptly walked pass our table and dropped the check. Now, we're left a little confused as to why we were being served a check for drinks we have not yet consumed.

As a former manager , of course i asked to speak to the manager., because i know this is not a great example of customer service.  So the manager comes and we explain the situation. She then ask for our Id's as well, even taking my college ID also. Since when did college IDs validate ones age I'm not sure but hey what ever pleases them, besides I just want to have some drinks and enjoy great music. The manager takes our IDs and walk away only to return stating to me that I am a lot thinner now than I appear in my ID photo. As of now we've become the center of attention, people staring and wonder what's the deal with our table. So of course I become pissed. Another waitress pops up at the table and goes "of course that's you what's the issue" , yet the manager still has my IDs and is questioning my Identity. Luckily for myself a few band members were close friends of mine and were able to verify my identity, but unfortunately I've now become embarrassed and quite insulted. Crazy part about it is I'm actually older than every band member who were performing and provided with unlimited drinks, Go Figure.  It took a matter of 15 minutes for my IDs to be returned to me by my band member friend and not the manager might i add. No apology was giving at all.  I was just told " You have to understand our policy and no one wants to lose their job". I've followed policy and procedures for the last 10 years of my life so granted i understand that , but when things are taken beyond thee extreme it becomes a problem.
Being that I was never the underage party goer  I cant and probably will never understand the fake ID thing and maybe that had some play as to why I was so embarrassed and upset.  Many may take it as a compliment but I was truly insulted. Yes I've lost 15 pounds lately doing the gym thing and hey maybe I do have a baby face, but a liar and a poser I am NOT.

Not only was I embarrassed for being myself , I received no apology as well. This is not how you run a business. They literally Ruined my night.  So of course I will no longer do business with that establishment.  Great drinks but HORRIBLE customer service. Never Again.
